1. As an elected official, what role could you play to promote the use of public spaces for gardens and botanical features that could support beneficial wildlife, like pollinators and native plants?

As a City Council member, I would work to expand green space initiatives across Irving by encouraging native plantings, pollinator gardens, and community-driven landscaping projects on public land. I believe public spaces should do more than just exist, they should thrive. I would support policies that make it easier for residents, schools, and nonprofits to collaborate on beautification efforts, and I would champion funding and education around native plant ecosystems that benefit wildlife and create a more sustainable city.

2. How could future developments in Irving like the old Texas Stadium site be incentivized to include green spaces and botanical elements?

We can encourage developers to integrate green spaces by tying incentives, such as density bonuses or tax abatements to high-quality, publicly accessible landscaping. I'd advocate for green infrastructure standards in planning and zoning that make botanical elements not just optional, but expected. Large developments like the Texas Stadium site should be forward-thinking, incorporating not just buildings but places where families can connect with nature whether that's native gardens, shaded trails, or pollinator corridors.

3. What are some of your favorite places to enjoy nature in Irving / the DFW area?

In Irving, I love Campion Trails and the Elm Fork corridor, great spots to unwind and see the beauty of our local ecosystem. The Las Colinas canals and Lake Carolyn also show how green design can enhance urban living, especially with the pocket parks and Levy Plaza. Beyond Irving, one of my favorite places is the Dallas Arboretum, not just for its incredible gardens but because it's where I got married. It's a reminder to me of how meaningful and memorable well-designed green spaces can be.
